August litter pick in Purewell
On Saturday 10th August we shall be gathering at Burton Road (opposite Purewell Meadows) together with our Safe Neighbour Team at 10 30 am to undertake a litter pick/ clean up of the surrounding area. These events are in fact great fun with refreshments including a barbecue afterwards. Last time we did this the amount of detritus bagged up was amazing, it also sent a message to residents and visitors about 'pride of place' and the importance of keeping the neighbourhood clean and tidy. Councils from all over come under severe pressure about litter which is a bit strong because Councils do not create litter. Further cuts in funding are going to put councils under severe pressure in providing a service to clear litter so communities do have some responsibility in keeping their neighbourhoods tidy. So if you can find an hour please come on the 10th and give us a helping hand.
