Onwards and upwards
As you can read from the blogs below it has been an interesting week to say the least. Following the vote by Conservative Councillors we are now 22 like minded and enthusiastic community workers all looking forward to getting on with the job of making Christchurch an even better place to live. So it's onwards in meeting our challenges and upwards in the standards we aspire to for the community. The point that appears to have been missed in all the comments and rhetoric over the last few days is that at the last election the Christchurch community recognised the work being done, the objectives being set and the fact that they were in preference of Conservatives representing them in just about every ward in the Borough. Even in the ward included in the top 20%of areas of deprivation in the Country returned two Conservative Councillors simply because they were seen to be representing their community with purpose and vigour. In simple terms despite the tough economic situation residents are more confident in Conservative representation. The hollow claims that political parties with a tendency to the left better serve the community has been challenged and proven to be vacuous. Good Conservative values work better for all communities and we in Christchurch have proved it so. This is the message I will be taking to the LGA Conference in Birmingham this week.
