A nice compliment
Sometimes it is really nice to get a pat on the back and on Friday last I got one. On a train from London a nice couple sat next to me were talking about how Christchurch has improved over the last four years especially in the town centre. The lady, young middle age, said that she regularly walked to her home in the town centre at 10.30 pm whilst her husband tidied up in the hall where they attend a regular function. She said she felt entirely safe, not threatened and that the improvement had been remarkable compared with four years ago when all sorts of problems were being experienced. So what we have been doing in partnership with all those connected with the night time economy in respect of early intervention at bars throughout the town is working well. I was proper chuffed especially when both husband and wife then said how they were looking forward to the new Druitts Garden project and praised the Council on working to improve Saxon Square with the introduction of a new hotel in place of the moribund medical centre. Apparently I had the New Milton advertiser to thank for this one as they carried the story in this weeks journal.
