Press statement Cllr Peter Hall
On Friday 24th June 2011 the Christchurch Council Conservative members voted to accept Cllr Peter Hall as a member of the Conservative group. His application to join the Conservative Party will now be processed and he will join the other 21 Conservative Councillors in working to deliver the manifesto commitments detailed at the election in May.
As Conservative Councillor for Town Centre Peter will work alongside Cllr. Gillian Geary and in partnership work to deliver outstanding community issues designed to make Christchurch an even better place to live, work and visit.
Peter’s experience will be invaluable in helping Christchurch Council to face the difficult financial challenges ahead as a result of the current national economic situation and he will be joining the Conservative Dorset County group in ensuring that Christchurch punches above its weight at Dorchester.
Working with the Christchurch Conservative team Peter will continue to act in the best interest of Town centre residents and continue in his role of deputy Mayor and as a senior member on the Planning Control committee.
Trish Jamieson Chairman of the Christchurch and East Dorset Conservatives said ‘’we welcome Peter to the association and are pleased to see him working for and with the Town Centre community under the Conservative banner’’.
Leader of the Council Cllr. Ray Nottage said ‘’Peter will be a great addition to our Conservative team, his record shows his commitment to the community, and his work ethic has endeared him to all his supporters. Peter will benefit as will the residents in Town Centre, by being part of a much bigger support organisation with ambitious plans for the future’’.
Ray went further to say ‘’Christchurch as a whole had recognised the determination in the Conservative administration to work smarter and develop initiatives like the partnership with East Dorset to deliver a value for money service to the community. Peter is now an integral part of this program and I know he will respond positively to the new and exciting challenges ahead.
Working for the community transcends politics and Peter should be measured on how he performs on behalf of residents and businesses in Town Centre. His record is exemplary and I have every confidence that he will perform his duties as Deputy Major this year and Mayor next to the high standards he sets for himself’’.
Peters message is simple it’s by working for the community that gets the community working.
