Keeping our promises.
Four years ago I stood on the doorstep of a family and was told in no uncertain terms by the youngest of the family, a lad of about seven, that the council was not providing enough play facilities for the young and Christchurch was a boring place to grow up as a result. Last week I saw the same family at the new skate park at Two rivers meet delivered by this Conservative controlled council. Now on the verge of becoming strapping teenager this lad had a grin on his face as he cascaded down a slope at breakneck speed on his board along with hundreds of other kids. The BMX track was buzzing and all the all weather football pitches alive with activity, including I noted a girls team. I had promised this facility to that lad and what a delight to be able to uphold that pledge. Along with the visitors centre at Stanpit Marsh and the new access bridges so much has been achieved and I am very proud to have been a part of the team that delivered it's promises. And there is more to come!
