Delivering our promises.
In the four years of this Conservative Council we have turned a potential economic disaster as a result of the macro economic situation into a balanced budget by a value for money approach to every aspect of Council management and responsibilities. By working form the top down we have saved thousands of residents council tax and have embarked on a root and branch review designed to ensure we maintain key front line services. Now we can look to the immediate future with a great deal more optimism than four years ago safe in the knowledge that we have some breathing space in which we can plan to work even smarter and continue to deliver. Our vision of partnership working is working right across the board not just with our colleagues in East Dorset but also in all the aspects of our management. Partnership with agencies in social housing, police and fire service, community associations and health providers all add up to making Christchurch a better place to live. Community well being is at the heart of our thinking and we will strive to sustain the remarkable improvements we have made in residents perceptions, for example fear of crime where in just four years this is now registering figures not seen for decades. Actual crime dramatically reduced just by making sure all agencies are singing from the same hymn book. In short a stunning record of achievement and more to come.
