Good news isacoming. Project 'protect' makes a difference.

The project called 'protect' undertaken by all safety partners in Christchurch Town Centre on Friday and Saturday nights throughout August appears to have paid off with dividends. This project was specifically designed to reduce incidents of violence as a result of alcohol which has been giving us real concerns over the last year. Early indications are that the number of incidents were reduced considerably as a result of our early intervention and high visibility policy and the reductions might just be spectacular. I will report actual reductions at a later date when stats are analysed but have to thank all those involved and contributed to this magnificent initiative. More later but just a thought that we are struggling to fund MAYO who were key to the success of this mission. If you want to find out more about these wonderful people who give up their weekends to outreach young people, let me know and I will direct you to them.
