Warning poachers are about

The old romantic image of the poacher trapping for his pot is long gone and right now we have a developing problem that is beginning to affect the whole bio-diversity of our estuary and rivers. Organised poaching of fish stock by using nets at night at various locations is causing great concern to environmentalists and maybe having a disastrous affect on our wild life. Wholesale plundering of Mullet returning to the the harbour as well as illegal Salmon and Sea trout netting is beginning to reach proportions which are now requiring a Police response to exercise byelaws, capture the offenders and prosecute. If anyone has information or is witness to this activity please advise your local beat officer so that we can take action to stop this organised theft of our natural resource.
