Update on the DPPO

The story in the Echo regarding the review of the public place order and relating it to their story about the Mayor celebrating with his community St Georges day and sipping ale within the curtilage of the old Town Hall is to say the least an exaggeration and simply not true. This process of legislation review and engaging with our community applies to this and many other issues and takes place to ensure that our community is in partnership with the policies to be implemented. There is no hidden agenda and what is going on is the result of good and engaging governance. What is disturbing is that the Echo does not promulgate the tremendous progress made by CBC and partners in reducing fear of crime in the Borough and praise and support all those who are contributing to the task of making Christchurch a better and safer place to live.I know that is is open season for Councillor/politician bashing but come on Echo you can do better than this trite and popularist nonsense, get on board with all the good things going on in this great community and put a positive spin on those who are contributing their time, knowledge and experience with no financial return to making Christchurch an even better place to live. Ah! but would that sell papers?
