Actions from our last surgery
I am delighted to see that the street cleaning of the area at Scott's Hill Lane leading to Purewell has now been undertaken and the autumn leaves cleared away. It has to be said that parked cars have prevented the machine from picking up this debris from routine cleansing operations and I would like to see a much more pro-active response from residents to the build up of leaves at the threshold of their houses. A bit of routine tidying would not go amiss and indicate that the neighbourhood is involved and are making a contribution. Nevertheless the area now looks neat and tidy. Drains have also been cleared along Purewell so that rainwater flows away rather than spilling over the kerb, this was done within 48 hours of the report coming in to me, so well done CBC. The final and most concerning issue was the disgusting littered state of the stream and other areas around Monkswell Green. This is such a serious situation that we have had to raise a special job card for work to be done by Council operatives in special pollution overalls to clear what appears to be contaminated material. This work will begin on or around the 1st March and I have to say at considerable expense to the community as a result of mindless persons dumping potentially dangerous refuse in this area. The fact that someone has such a lack of pride in this great place that we live fills me with incredulity, I only hope that if any resident sees such activity happening that they inform the council or our SNT immediately , maybe we can then get the dumper to clear the disgusting mess and understand the damage they do to the community. You may have noted that I am considerable exercised by this matter, I just cannot understand why persons have such a low opinion of this place that they would go out of their way to deliberately pollute to the detriment of the neighbours and to the endangerment of our children.
