SMP2
The public consultation period closed on 17th Feb having received 120 responses regarding this highly important and relevant document detailing the policies for Mudeford and Stanpit flood protection. Bearing in mind that this plan covered a coastline from Poole to Hurst I am dismayed that so few people or organisations responded perhaps this was due to the relatively small communities like ours that were regarded as too problematical to protect and of less value than those to the West of us. However the Steering group has met and accepted in part the suggested rewrite prepared by CBC following the concerns voiced by the ward members of vulnerable areas. As a result a HTL policy will be applied for the first and last epoch( an epoch is 25 years), the middle to be MR. If this makes any sense to anyone who reads this blog, would they please respond to me because I am at a loss to understand the logic. However I suppose we have a Pyrrhic victory and now at least if DEFRA ever put money into developing a hard strategy for flood prevention as a result of these policies, Mudeford and Stanpit will be up there along with Sandbanks and the other coastline communities deemed more valuable by the Consultants than ours, well at least for 25 years. I will blog again when I have full details of their decision about Double Dykes and Solent Beach
