The Crossing at Purewell

Final design drawings for this crossing submitted by Highways revealed some real safety concerns which following an extended meeting resulted in my request to think again about the location and type of crossing recommended.Further consideration of the total problem of traffic flow and pedestrian access showed that a zebra crossing would not assist at a later date should a more comprehensive view of the junctions, intersections and roundabout be undertaken. For this reason work on this crossing has been halted so that a more holistic solution can be found. Not the least of my concerns was the loss of parking outside the shops which I consider counter productive. Very sorry therefore that this will cause further delay to resolving this problem but I do think we can come up with an acceptable scheme which will meet all our requirements. Please be patient.
