Shore management plan 2
Just a further reminder that we are now in the consultation period for this policy plan. As you know I am still very unhappy that Mudeford and Stanpit will not be considered for flood protection in the same way as Poole Harbour and Bournemouth. If you have read my previous blogs about this matter you will know that I will be asking for an official rebuttal of this plan by CBC on the grounds that it will put us all at risk over the next fifty years.Consultation documents are available from the Council offices and I would strongly advise that we all add our voice to the concerns already raised. Although Bournemouth is the competent authority the whole principle of marginalising coastal residents is DEFRA generated and as a consequence I have asked Chris Chope to intervene on our behalf and express our consideration that the plans for Mudeford and Stanpit should be redrawn to give a chance for innovation and money for flood defences when the matter comes to a head. Unless we do something now it could be too late so get protesting. And by the way DEFRA may have missed the fact that over 9 million coastal residents nationwide are likely to be affected by potential flood conditions over the next fifty years. A sobering thought which drives a coach and horses, or maybe a Sunseeker, through their 'appeasement to the elements' political thinking. Lets stand up for Christchurch.
