It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas!!!
Thanks to all you guys who have been very gentle with me this year in my dealing with all your issues which inevitably take much more time as they pass through the protocol of Council. Purewell and Stanpit as a ward has done very well in 2009 with the opening of 2RM new facilities and the new street scene regime which I think is working well.We now have very up to date Conservation area plans for both P&S and Fishermans Bank (Stanpit), road speeds along Stanpit have reduced by as much as 17% and we have a new crossing(Rosie Havers) and adjustments to the calming system to look forward to. We won a considerable battle over the new lighting poles in Russell Drive and made considerable progress with the Stanpit Marsh Plan.We also made the buses run on time and indeed saved the service. What is most satisfying is the latest news that of all the wards in the Borough P&S comes out to be the safest. Who would have thought that two and a half years ago when fear of crime was at it's peak. In general the perception of fear of crime right across the Borough collapsed by 15% something that has been picked up by GOSW and is featured in the recently launched 'one place' web site which is part of the comprehensive area assessment (CAA) initiative from the Audit Commission. But P&S coming out as the safest is a real booster for the ward and testament to the hard work and dedication from our SNT and of course everyone who has been involved from PACT to Homewatch. So just one more meeting to go and I can relax a little. Christmas will be upon us and then gone in a trice so to all of you who check this blog out and read my rantings many thanks and I hope you have a wonderfully safe and healthy holiday. There will be many new challenges next year but I still believe and now have real evidence to prove that 'Working for the community gets the community working'. Merry Christmas and a very happy new year.
