Christchurch Hospital consultation.
I am sure that NHS managers at Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospital are reflecting this morning on the mauling given to them by CBC, members of the public, GP's and staff members about the so called consultation document which was issued after actions it described had in fact taken place, at last nights Scrutiny Committee meeting chaired by Cllr Lucy Filer. I have to say that the staff/management relationship reminded me of the industrial relations atmosphere which existed in the seventy's and eighty's and I actually expected that someone would refer to the 'key for the executive toilet' illustrating the gulf between staff and management. Similarly was the lack of empathy for the public who are really concerned that the changes already made will make to their local hospital and the disregard of a real communication process with all those involved in whatever way with the hospital and it's services.Whilst I respect that 'management' has a job to do, the days have gone when it can apply tick box tactics to the consultation process and the attempt to do just that has mis-fired. Let's all hope that they now approach the difficult decisions they have to make more in the sense of partnership than dogma.
