Spin or lies

I have been reflecting on why a local politician with twelve years of experience at county level and sixteen at Borough level should resort to the sort of spin that borders on total fabrication. As I am relatively new to this whole micro political process I am baffled and shocked at just how low this whole business has become.Quite clearly the Christchurch Cell of the Liberal party were party to the process and designed their whole approach to the forthcoming election around a web of innuendo bordering on untruths. They have clearly been impressed by this Blairite method of winning elections at any cost. My point is that it is not surprising that Joe Public has lost faith in those who purport to represent them with honesty and integrity when they find out just how far removed these representatives are from these essential values. Can we get back to simple contribution where Councillors see their task as improving the wellbeing of their community without resorting to divisive statements, spinning untrue disaster stories or any other device that brings disharmony to our community? Personally, I will not risk my integrity with such tactics, I believe that at the end of the day the populous will find you out then you are nothing.
