The Rosie Havers Crossing

About a year ago Rosie Havers,a local resident,, told me of her concerns about the dangers of crossing the road at Purewell Cross from one side of Stanpit to the other. What was needed she said was a crossing with dropped kerbs so that old and young on foot or on wheelchair could cross this busy road with complete safety. We decide upon a strategy and six months later Rosie presented a petition to full Council with nearly 300 signatures of local residents.Just last week and following tough negotiations I was told that the money will be set aside and work on a brand new crossing will start later on this year. What a brilliant result showing again that with community support and a common sense approach, things can get done to improve the well being of our residents. An added bonus will be the speed calming effect at this busy junction which will tie in with the speed calming work already operating further down Stanpit. So well done Rosie and all those people who helped her. Well done Christchurch Borough Council for listening to me I look forward to leading Rosie across the road on the crossings opening. And if I could crow just a little bit, this issue was raised many times with the previous Liberal Borough Councillors, and what did they do....nothing!
