Front door reaction to Parliaments demise.
Just about everyone I speak to at their front door has a view on the disclosures about MP's expense claims. In fact, the subject dominates and is proving to be very unhelpful in getting the message over that local politics matter and public contribution via the ballot box is a key part of our democratic process. So many residents have indicated their total frustration and concern that in these recessionary times this sort of abuse is occurring at the highest level of government.Just what will have to happen to rebuild the ordinary bloke's faith in the system is at this moment beyond me but I do think that regrettably this matter is going to have an effect on the ballot box. This is a great shame after so much work has been put in at a local level to make peoples well being better. All the benefits of the crime reduction program to the community are surpassed by the anger residents feel that the very people they have looked up to have let them down.A week is a long time in politics and I do hope the headlines will not be so subversive at polling day.Having read David Cameron's speech today it would appear that he at least is taking this matter seriously. He needs to!
