Yesterdays surgery
An assortment of issues raised yesterday at St Johns, difficulties with the current parking problems prevailed as did issues of tidiness, litter and dog mess. I was able to deal with most of the concerns and together with Cllr Davis will follow up those that require office involvement this week. I spoke to some residents about reforming a Purewell Residents Association as we now have a useful centre of activities namely St Johns church. With so much uncertainty in the area as a result of austerity not just in CBC activity but in all situations, St Johns could again become the centre of the community with a bit of an effort from like minded residents. Helping to set standards for the community, working with other agencies to deliver services to young mums or the elderly population, its all there, just needs some residents to commit a small amount of time for potentially huge returns in social terms. Purewell is one of the main thoroughfares into Christchurch and as such is a pro forma to the town centre in terms of expectation for visitors and residents alike. So an array of smart shops and buildings, tidy front gardens, clean pavements would/could make a big difference. I am hoping that the developments now underway will help in this respect. But it would be good to see residents of Purewell taking the lead as they have done in respect of anti-social behaviour issues through the PACT meetings so well attended by interested and concerned people. Together they have made a great difference. Anyone interested?

Ray,as someone whose only form of transport is a bicycle may I be permitted to make the following observation? Every morning on my way to work between the hours of 6 and 7am I am forced to take evasive action due to some odious individual allowing their dog to deposit a pile of excrement in the road between Fernlea and what we locals know as the Salisbury Arms. It is high time they were apprehended!

I agree and am aware, the problem is my officers have so many controls from this PC society that the only option is for them to witness the event, then they can act, otherwise we rely on information about timing and identificaton. All a very labour intensive and costly operation. The area is targeted by our PCSO so I hope we can get a result.
