Challenge Navitas issues a damming report against Navitas Wind Farm
Today I circulated a report from Challenge Navitas to all ward Councillors. It does highlight the serious concerns that have been developing from residents and various associations along the coast. Indeed I have been inundated by letters of concern and I know MP Chris Chope has received letters also. The point of this blog is to advise all that are interested to get in contact with your ward Councillors to get a copy of the report or to express your concerns to them. This has been a changing and a challenging process as we find more details of the massive impact this wind farm in it's location will have on our lives. And beyond, because we found out only this week that the massive cabling project across our countryside is likely to have a serious legacy effect as for instance we are now told now that cabling will stay in the ground after de-commissioning. The pollutant issue seems to have been ignored. In 2011 in recognition of the likely affect on our coastline CBC ran an alternative energy conference to establish if there were other less intrusive ways of energy development to take up the small proportion of the national requirement that is specified for the Navitas project. We concluded that the science was moving so fast that other sources could be developed with the same or less government subsidies within the contract span of this Navitas project. So we do have to give urgent and serious consideration as to whether we want this project and all that it will mean in respect of the changes it will bring to the area. It's up to the community to get involved and understand the pro's and con's of such a project like Navitas. Your Council is only a statutory consul tee, we will not be involved in the final planning decision taken by government.

What exactly is the massive impact then? What alternatives do you propose? Would you prefer, for instance, a nuclear power station in the immediate vicinity? I think we should be told.
I have given you the website to check out, I know it is difficult for you to see an alternative view to the entrenched position you are in but for the first time think of others and use your brain. At CBC we have been working to assess stuff like geo-thermal, tidal and solar why cannot you accept people are working to protect the very place that you say is in your ownership when you do nothing and are so intransigent.
Well said, Ray! Sad how one person's unrelenting vitriol can make a blog occasionally so sour.
