Sunday 11th Novemeber
Starting at Purewell Cross memorial at 9.30 am and finishing at Highcliffe St Marks at 4.30 pm, Christchurch Councillors had a full but emotional Remembrance Sunday. The invitation from the Christchurch British Legion to process to the Priory Church is always very gratefully received and this year was very special. The bright weather helped to bring hundreds of residents and visitors to the High Street to see the Scouts, the guides in all their age groups plus the veterans and serving soldiers and of course the fantastic British Legion band parade to the garden of remembrance for a very moving wreath laying and the service afterwards in the packed Priory. Christchurch at its best, dedicating this part of the day to our fallen heroes. At St Marks another procession to the Church again populated with local scout and guide groups and dignitaries for another service this time cross denomination. I returned home in a sombre and reflective mood. A good day, an important day and one that will stay with me for a long time.
