Stuff going on
Winter has hit us early this year but despite the bleak conditions our Green Guardians are out in all weathers sprucing up our wildlife zones. These volunteers epitomise the heart in the Christchurch community, unseen whilst working the hedges and ditches their contribution is just remarkable. If you wish to don your waders, arm yourself with rakes and garden forks you can join this team by contacting The Steamer Point Information Centre on 01425 272479. Peter Holloway is the officer to speak to.
This week sees the full Council Meeting on Tuesday night which should again be a lively event especially with questions being asked about the current issues in the Borough. It starts at 6.0pm in the Council chamber. Saturday surgery at St John’s Church on the 3rd November starts at 10am again a chance for residents to highlight those issues they are concerned about. On Sunday 11th of November we will be at Purewell Cross at 9.45 am for the open-air remembrance service, then to the Mayors parlour for the poignant procession to the Priory for the full Remembrance Day service. Significant the fact that this Sunday is the 11th so the eleventh month, the eleventh day at the eleventh hour, please try to attend. I am always a bit disappointed at the turnout at Purewell so if you can get up a bit earlier on that Sunday and attend I would be very grateful. I understand that the consultation about potential improvements at Stanpit Recreation Ground went very well with hundreds of contributions. I am keen to see the outcome of resident’s ideas. I was in London on Friday, returning by train in the evening I met some guys who were an integral part of the National census team. You may know that the latest figures are just being released. Projections see Christchurch population expanding again putting more emphasis on housing needs for our growing community. I must admit that if someone had asked me pre-Councillor days if I would ever have a two hour conversation about population statistics I would have been very offhand, but I have to say I found this discussion really interesting. I need to find out more.
