Off shore wind farm
I have now seen the new visuals of the potential wind farm off our coastline. These views are graphics based on the latest information and show the outlook from Hengisbury Head. I am hoping to get copies shortly to bring to attention of Council the potential effect on our vista. So concerned am I and the port folio holder for the Environment that we will be making representation to all South West members of Parliament not just with information from our Conference but also why this project is moving like a vast fully ladened oil tanker towards us with us not having recourse to proper consultation. World Heritage classification of the Jurassic coastline is likely to be under threat and one does wonder if this project would proceed if it were built on the Great Barrier reef?
Once our information about alternative energy sources is collated we will be deciding how best to involve the community. The one thing that is certain is unless we get our Community/ County/ Coastline hat on and develop a common strategy be that either to oppose in total the scheme, get them to move it further off shore and reduce the numbers then this project will be on us like a ton of bricks. Resident Associations should now be forming a direction enabling Councils to be confident in community support. Time is running out!!

Quite right. From what I hear the wind farms aren't very efficient anyway. Worst of all, though, would be the destruction of one of the most superb coastal views in England. Scotland has already suffered badly, as have many rural areas across the UK. I would perhaps be more sympathetic if it would actually significantly help our power problems.
By the way, I prefer a fully-laden oil tanker: at least it isn't in the same place permanently!!!
Keep up the pressure.
