Homewatch Day 5th May
Keep Christchurch Safe will be the theme of the Homewatch day at the Stanpit Village Hall on the 5th May. Award winning Christchurch Borough Homewatch will be hosting a full day indicating what the community is doing to beat the criminal and make Christchurch an even safer and better place to live. On display will be the 'Sheducation' exhibit showing the devices available to keep sheds and outbuildings safe and all the agencies including Police, Fire and Christchurch Borough Council who are doing such a great job in keeping our crime levels at the lowest levels for decades. Harbour Watch is putting in an appearance bringing marine safety to the fore and through the day the Homewatch and Police Community Safety Officers will be there to deal with any questions from residents. The latest set of crime figures show that we are still well below other areas of similar conurbation size but we may have a growing problem with vehicle crime where cars and vans are left unlocked or when goods or possessions are left on display. Homewatch will be making mention of this in their presentations. Christchurch residents should be really proud of what Homewatch members have achieved over the last four years and I for one hope they are well supported in this community initiative. Pop in and be surprised at what is going on.
