Christchurch Heritage
I have a real problem getting my head round just what we as residents think about the heritage of this delightful town. Let me explain, currently we have the burning issue of Druitt Hall being described as a super important legacy whilst, and this is my point, we see a planning application made for a new vicarage in the garden of the existing run down but historic facility we also see the Constables House disappearing bit by bit as parents let kids clamour all over it and the back wall taking a very worrying angle with very few people apparently concerned. So where does our opinion of what is heritage and what we should do to protect it stand? In both the issues CBC have very little influence, yes we can go through the proper planning process as is right and important and yes we can influence our PCSO's to look out for destructive children but is that enough? When our heritage is threatened are we concerned at all, I will make this point to our 'Heritage Champion' to see if she has any strong feelings about this dichotomy.
