I have been amazed at the increase this year of bird life both in variety and quantity visiting Stanpit Marsh, roosting and feeding in the margins and the marsh itself. Following the birds came hundreds and I mean hundreds of twitchers seeking a glimpse of the latest rare feathered visitor. Further at a recent Sunday coffee morning over forty residents turned up to listen to the experts and walk the marsh to see for themselves the transformation.
It is not for me to claim credit for this change but what was predicted when we going through the dog control order issue is now coming to fruition. The whole area has been regenerated in terms of the natural history of the marsh so the management, including the visitor facility has made a great contribution. Further from what I hear from our wildlife officer, things could get even better.
