The Local Development Framework (LDF)

The LDF is an important planning policy document that will shape the direction to be followed by CBC well into the 2020's. It has been in the making for the last five years such is the scope and detail included. It will mirror much of what is central government policy under the localism agenda and be the main policy document against which developers and the Council will defer and will supersede the existing planning policy adopted in the year 2001. It covers policy to do with every aspect of development both in domestic and commercial/industrial issues. It will include a new and much needed allotment policy and determine limits for urban extensions to include much needed housing for our growing population. It will sit alongside our Corporate objectives in respect of issues like economic growth and High Street improvement. In short it is an essential tool to this Boroughs development over the next decade. The community will be made aware of the adoption process which will run into 2013 and how concerned groups or individuals will be able to contribute at the Community Services committee meeting on 25th January at the CBC Council Chamber. This policy document has been produced in partnership with East Dorset District Council and is testament to the spirit of co-oporation which exists between the two Councils.
