Local Enterprise Partnership launched

You may have read that Dorset has been awarded 'local enterprise' status by Government. This means that a business led approach will be taken by a board of Directors comprising business leaders and elected persons to developing Dorset's business potential both in terms of the rural and urban structure of our County. I have been asked to represent all Dorset Districts and Boroughs on this board and be part of the process in part of finding and unlocking projects which will generate jobs and create industry where there are none.Key to this is our mission to see that Broadband is delivered to the whole County, this project backed with Government/ LA/ funding is at the final stages of approval and is seen as fundamental to the LEP being able create the sort of industrial/commercial environment necessary for the 21st century. As it stands we will have access to over £6 million to use as a rotating fund to unlock problems of infra-structure or utilities which are preventing growth so that we can build on the fantastic qualities of our County and the skills of it's residents. This is a big job requiring big visions and objectives. Watch out for the web site shortly to be launched giving more detail.
