Summer visitors

It is obvious that we have a number of travellers parked on our car park at Mudeford Quay and less obvious that we have an incursion at Chapel Gate. The laborious process of getting them to move on is under way but such is the system that we have to adhere to this may take many days. We have made representation to the Home Office about speeding up the nonsensicle process of court orders and all the hoops we have to go through to get our car park back and cleaned up when this sort of happening occurs. Regretably the HO do not see it our way and if anything the direction they are taking is heavily weighted on the travellers side. As it stands we are part of a consultation process and have made constructive observations about the HO's sugested legislation forcing us to provide permanant and transit site within our conorbation. Meanwhile we suffer the indignity of being powerless to claim for payment against lost revenue for blocked car parking spaces and have to fund the clean up afterwards from tax revenue. When we as a community have responded so well to partnership working whereby neighbourhoods have contributed to setting higher standards for their areas with the resulting collapse of crime figures, it is more than frustrating that central government appear to exclude travellers from the same responsibilities as our permenant residents.
