Headlines in the Advertiser
I am grateful for the coverage given by the press to my blog about the current concerns I have regarding the traffic growth in Christchurch and what we should be doing about it. The highlighted issue was and is the absence of a proper by-pass but the main thrust of my concern is the chaotic state of the gyratory system and it's effect on the pressures to grow our community. I have had a meeting with all the County councillors so that they are aware that I am asking for an holistic review by the responsible authority ( Dorset County Council)of the traffic flow through Christchurch from East to West and North to South and visa verse. Included should be a review of the High Street and this should be designed to improve drastically the High Street experience. My own vision is for County to take up the challenge of regeneration of the area so that it represents and mirrors the dynamic and prosperous community we are. My experience in being a councillor is that we spend too much time and show too much concern on statistics which show a higher than average retirement population at the expense of growing a vital local economy with all the aspirations associated with living in this century. Somehow we have to make Christchurch as exciting as it is historic, quite a job!!!
