Mudeford fun day, sums up this great community.
I could not let this weekend go by without praising the organisers of the fun day and raft race at the quay on Sunday. What great day for all our visitors and what an example the day sets for everyone in respect of the community spirit which exists in this Borough. The raft race reached a new dimension with clever and skilled contributions from the Ship in Distress, The Gallion and all the others who took part. Fantastic constructions and they all stayed afloat, just how this will be followed next year is any ones guess. But I was so pleased to see that the day had returned to it's family roots with mums dads and kids enjoying a great day out despite the cold wind. Events like this are an absolute credit to our community and I congratulate everyone who took part, I had a great day and strolled down to the Nelson on my way home, there I listened to the comments from people who in every way were positive about Christchurch and that they had had a great time. I read lots of comments from cynics in the Echo about the state of our town so when an event like this fun day proves to be so popular it warms my heart because I know at it's roots we have a vibrant and contributing community. And next weekend? Stompin on the Quomps!!!
