What a week!!! (Thursday)
An early start to get to Dorchester for a meeting with the leader of the County Council and my fellow leaders across Dorset. An intensely interesting discussion which for me was a bit of an eye opener to the problems being experienced elsewhere and how we in Christchurch rate against other Dorset Councils. I must say I came away very pleased that CBC clearly punched above it's weight in the County and generated a high level of respect from other Boroughs and Districts as to how we have progressed our partnership working with East Dorset DC. High on the agenda was the situation regarding the latest local enterprise partnership submission to central government on behalf of Bournemouth, Dorset and Poole. This private company/local authority initiative is designed to initiate new and exiting opportunities in Dorset including green and creative industry, sustainment and development of existing businesses together with all the required changes needed to make Dorset PLC run more efficiently. More on this later as I discovered that I was the Dorset representative and the next meeting is next week! Getting back to CBC in the afternoon I had a meeting with the Chair of Hurn Parish Council, then went straight into a seminar about the developing LDF and finished the day eating my dinner at nine pm. It was almost in the dog!
