Surgery yesterday
A flurry of activity at surgery yesterday with issues ranging from street cleaning to improving our conservation areas. It's really odd that residents get a different perspective of the tidyness of our streets and other areas, on the one hand a resident very exercised that the tidyness was going down the pan and a momment later another resident applauding the Borough for doing such a good job in keeping the place clean! The one thing that is coming over loud and clear is the perception of what we as a Council can do and what we can't do, what we are responsible for and what we are not responsible for. Whilst we may have influence we cannot intervene directly in matters pertaining to the Airport drop off charges, we cannot force owners of premises to comply with area standards of appearance and repair of property in conservation areas or tidy their gardens without wading through acres of legislation costing unproportional amounts of tax payers money. So life becomes a bit of a compromise and we I think do a pretty good job in that respect. Notwithstanding, we do try to represent all opinions, concerns and take forward issues raised.
