Update

I have had an extremely busy week on Council activity so have not been able to blog at my normal rate.To those who have enquired after my health I say many thanks but I am now just on the verge of doing away with my sticks and walking normally. After four weeks I think that is not too bad for an olden!
As you know Cllr.Alan Griffiths resigned as leader of the Council for personal reasons. Alan has been leader for nearly eight years and has overseen the increasing efficiency of CBC as clearly illustrated by the latest monitoring report and resident sampling which happens every year. Key to his success has been his determination to get more from less and his drive to get the Council working smarter always putting residents first. He will be sorely missed.Cllr. John Lofts has a tough act to follow and has asked me to act as his deputy which I have agreed to do already he and I have been working with the new management team overseeing the partnership with East Dorset and making sure Christchurch punches above it's weight as usual. We are both convinced that the partnership will work, it will bring savings to the benefit of Christchurch residents as we review the new funding statements coming from Central Government. We should remember that had it not been for the vision of this Council in driving the partnership forward, we would be in a far worse position to deal with the economic turndown and front loaded cuts expected next week.
