Spending cuts

Whatever political persuasion, today is a day when everyone should be understanding that we all have to pay for the imprudence and proliferate spending of the last macro administration. Whilst we can all get traumatised over the immediate future, we should not forget that without realising it we have all been absorbing far to much of the economic pie and slimming down means we all have cut down our intake and plan with caution for the future. This is what we have been doing for the last three years at CBC and as a result, whatever the outcome today we will be a lot more comfortable listening to the Chancellors announcements than a great number of other Councils. We are in short 'ahead of the game' when it comes to cutting costs and making sure that we provide the services our residents want at a 'value for money' rate. There has not been a stone unturned in our quest to keep local taxation to an absolute minimum and this will continue and with transparency so that all our expenditure is available for scrutiny. Whilst announcements about partnership working with East Dorset and our involvement with the Dorset waste partnership can easily throw up concerns, what it shows is an administration exists at CBC which is continually working to reduce costs by doing things a bit differently. Long may it continue.
