Theft of unsecured vehicles and theft of cycles and Protect initiative.

For some reason or other we as a Borough are experiencing a spate of thefts from unlocked cars and vans. This is of course coincident with the holiday period so a few opportunist thieves are taking advantage of relaxed residents and visitors. Cycle thefts are also of concern and so the message is simple make sure your vehicle is locked and possessions are tucked away in the boot or wherever a thief cannot see them. Cycles should be locked securely if left and locked away in sheds at night or when not in use. Homewatch will be arranging some roadshows to highlight the problem in the near future, more details at a later date.
Project PROTECT continues in the High Street this Friday and Saturday night, it is designed to highlight CBC concern about injury resulting from too much alcohol consumption and will involve all partners to ensure that our town centre is a healthy place to visit. It will also promote 'BANNED FROM ONE BANNED FROM ALL' a self explanatory initiative from PUBWATCH.
Police and partners will be highly visible and will be following our early intervention policy to keep our town safe for all residents and users.
