A dog poo horror story

It is sometime since we started our campaign against the disgusting way some irresponsible dog owners allow their animals to defecate on public and private areas and then walk away leaving a health hazard behind for others to clear up. Our 'bag it
and bin it' posters seem to be losing their effect, certainly dog owners are not heeding our warnings in Grange ward and at Purewell Meadows. Just today a 75 year old resident of Grange was threatened with a beating as a result of asking an offending dog owner to clear up the mess the animal had just left on his property. It turns out that this misguided and clearly challenged dog owner regularly allowed his dog to use the garage forecourt as its personal toilet and the concerned resident had worked out at what time in the morning the animal was walked and confronted the dog owner politely with the request that he cleaned the mess up and took it home. The aggressive response and threat of a beating for the 75 pensioner left him slightly traumatised and he contacted me as to what he should do next. I am going to take the matter out of his hands and advise CBC officers and the PCSO's to pursue the dog owner with a view to re-educating him as to this anti social and completely selfish activity. Purewell Meadow is also being targeted as a place where owners seem to think that they can allow their animals to dump with impunity, it has to stop.
