Saturday surgery

Very busy this week at surgery with items ranging from the usual litter problems to issues about bus services along Purewell and parking restrictions which are about to be reviewed again along Purewell. The litter issue first, I am told that in terms of customer satisfaction we are doing pretty well as far as street cleaning is concerned but we still have dog fouling and detritus on our pavements which makes me mad. So another litter pick is planned for Saturday 10 July at 11 am am, I wonder how many complainants will turn up? Seriously, this is a chance to tidy up Purewell meadow and the surrounding streets so I am expecting a good turnout, meet at Purewell Meadow in Burton Road. Barbecue lunch included.Parking along Purewell is another problem with the bus companies saying that the current arrangements will have to be changed if they are to maintain their timetables. I have tried to find an accord here between residents and CBC but as I understand it a petition is again being raised objecting to the proposals. This is on the go now to be presented at the next full Council. On the positive side I have been able to confirm a residents parking scheme for a small part of the road which is a bit of a start. All in all a good surgery and although the dog poo issue still exercises us I hear that our environment officers have issued fixed penalty notices to a number of persistant offenders, let's hope this makes a difference.
