Parking in Purewell

This matter is to come before full council next week in form of a petition being presented in opposition to the latest proposals. In an interview with the Echo today I have said that whilst I support the application of residents permits at west end of Purewll I am very concerned as to the effect on businesses on the changes suggested for the East end of the road. Further I am still not convinced that we have sufficient information from the bus company to be able to say conclusively that this area is the sole reason why buses are running 6 minutes late from Christchurch to Bournemouth. Residents are right to be concerned that safety issues may be compromised by buses operating close to pavements and there being an even worse situation than at present developing at weekends when free parking applies in certain areas. Problems of 'boy racers' at night have also been voiced and this may worsen if we free up more space.In conclusion I think this whole issue should be looked at as part of a Purewell Cross roundabout safety issue which is a continual concern expressed by residents at my surgery.
