SAMRA meeting last Friday
Standing up in front of fifty or so residents, all members of SAMRA (Stanpit and Mudeford residents association), and answering questions from the floor is a daunting task but one that can be very enlightening about issues effecting our area. Councillor Griffiths and myself faced the music about the Gundimore construction and other issues ranging from cycling on pavements and footpaths, Council community charges among other things, this was at Stanpit village Hall on Friday night. Subsequently other questions arrived by e-mail all of which have been dealt with. I find these events very important as they enable me to gauge what issues are exercising our community and how they want me to respond, essential to this process is the fact that my own sentiment must take consideration of resident opinion so that I can accurately represent the community. This is why SAMRA is so important and valuable when it works in support of the democratic process and why I would like to see Purewell included in the membership. This would encourage a 'community spirit' which is, shall we say not as evident in Purewell as in Mudeford and Stanpit. It is that spirit and the resulting pride of place which will enable the community to set its own standards. Well done SAMRA I look forward to the next similar meeting.
