CDRP a new opportunity
Those observant readers of this blog might have noticed the change in the details included in the above heading in respect of CDRP. Both East and West CDRP have now had Home Office approval to merge into one strategic unit and the new committee is now called the Dorset Community Safety Partnership (CSP). The purpose was to simplify the management process of the partnership and as a result reduce partners commitment to meetings thus saving an amazing amount of management time, therefore money. I have been elected as Chair of this new committee. Details of the objectives of CSP can be viewed on the Dorset4u website and my role is described also. Commensurate with this change will be the strengthening of local partnerships to ensure that local 'front door' issues of crime and disorder can be dealt with at locality level and information affecting strategy can be swiftly passed to CSP. By applying a business management structure the communication process is vastly improved as well as saving partners valuable time and resource. The new CSP plan from 1st May 2010 till May 2011 will be available shortly in printed format and on the above mentioned website. This is a big job, a big responsibility but considering the achievements made in respect overall crime reduction by the partnership, it is an opportunity to make a real contribution to community safety in Dorset.
