Japanese Knotweed.

I noticed a piece in one of the newspapers about mortgage companies refusing to lend money on houses where there is evidence of this pernicious weed as it has a tendency to grow through concrete and split drains. The spectre of a 'Dr Who' type invasion of this mega plant is quite concerning especially as I have just seen a new development being constructed in Stanpit right on top and next to an outcrop of this organic version of the death watch beetle. There appears little that we as concerned citizens can do to see that this menace is dealt with through the normal channels as nobody appears to want to take responsibility or even acknowledge the fact of the plants existence. So the shoots are relentlessly pushing through adjacent tarmac and probably breaking through into drains as you read this post, and due to the veracious appetite it has for colonisation is looking for the next challenge which happens to be a well establish housing estate. Now I have flagged this up constantly for the last two years as has one of the owners of the house close to the site, we are still waiting for some sort of direction, meanwhile the plant is being bathed in foundation concrete, enticed by new drainage systems which is a bit like feeding a hungry bear. This is our version of the Triffids, can someone help?
