Stanpit Marsh Management Plan

Stanpit Marsh is as important to Christchurch as the Priory. Bold statement, a bit of an exaggeration maybe but in my opinion relevant in the way we husband the area for the future. So I was delighted to see the unprecedented response by consultees from all over the Borough to the plan submitted to Community Services by the advisory panel. The overwhelming conclusion was that we have as a community to take special care of these areas of natural beauty and protect the bio-diversity and do things to encourage wild life not drive it away by inconsiderate behaviour. Now the Council has a clear mandate to bring to the table exciting ideas for the recreation ground to enable the development of a doggies heaven, also to tidy up the carpark and create an ambiance which represents the importance of the whole area and controls which enables our excellent wardens and helpers to make sure dogs are kept under proper control on the SSSI. Stanpit Marsh is not just a local asset or even a national asset it is an international asset and I am pleased to see that from the returns from the community to the plan, the residents agree and gave the plan so much support. On to the next stage, the hard work starts now.
