Nobody reads a blog !!!!

This was pointed out to me last week when explaining how I was communicating with residents using computers and blogging. We are using the same process to illustrate what we are doing with Homewatch and PACT as well as the Homewatch web site. To this end Purewell and Stanpit ward are ahead of the game but as you can imagine there are always doubters who somehow cannot grasp the fact that computers are common place to all homes and used by the whole spectrum of society. So check the following unabridged e-mail I received today from official sources:-
''A PCSO circulated a warning about a suspicious window cleaner who was taking money up front but failing to return to clean the windows. It is not recommended to broadcast personal details of "offenders" just in case there was a misunderstanding but on this occasion the name and mobile phone number of the window cleaner was put out on Ringmaster and also the Christchurch Borough Home Watch Web site.

A victim from Bristol contacted the watch about a week later to say he had "Googled" the window cleaners details which matched that of the Dorset offences and has now reported the male for similar offences in Avon and Somerset''.
Great result for The Homewatch team and a particular success for Barry Sherwin who blogged the whole thing.
Nice when you are proved right!!!!

In the short time that Christchurch Borough Homewatch Association has been operating we have had quite a few success stories to date, and hopefully these will continue into the future. This really proves to members that Homewatch does work in making Christchurch a safer place to live.

Christchurch Borough Homewatch Association has become one of the most success "Watch" initiatives in Dorset.By exploiting the advancements in modern technology both Christchurch Homewatch and Purewell and Stanpit PACT can now reach all corners of the UK. The pact office recently received an e-mail from a police officer in the north of England who had found the Homewatch and PACT blogs through google, and is now a regular reader of the blogs.
