Stanpit Traffic Calming
Further to my earlier blog I have now looked very carefully at the figures produced from the data collection process and can confirm that 85% speeds have dropped by as much as 15% Northbound and 13% Southbound. I can also confirm that the biggest difference is the number of cars exceeding 30 and 40mph, this has fallen drastically. So the scheme as it stands has worked and the adjustments to be made shortly will also make a difference. This together with the crossing at Purewell, which will also contribute to speed reduction, will mean that by the end of the year we will have made a considerable difference to this residential area. Close study of volumes of traffic also show increases of from 10 to 15% of traffic North and South. This corrects my earlier calculations which were misinterpreted due to the fact that my brain was not in gear. Many apologies. The problem here is that data was taken in the holiday season this year against October in 2007 so we would expect an increase in traffic.
