Littering at Mudeford Quay
Yesterday one of our environment officers witnessed a driver dumping a used McDonald's carton out of his car. The driver was issued with a fixed penalty notice which if he ignores will land him in court. The careless littering of our Borough by anyone but especially visitors is causing great concern not withstanding the increasing cost of clearing up so as an issue we have to raise the bar and try to get the message through that this sort of attitude is not acceptable. We care for our place and are proud of it and we will not allow it to become a dump for persons who will not take their litter home. Nor is the excuse that the litter bin was not in the right place acceptable or indeed that we need more of them. Increasing bin positions means increasing cost of collection which will come out of our meagre resources. The message has to be take your litter home and leave Christchurch as you found it.
