Street Corner Meetings

It was good to see our PACT and SNT team out last night at Purewell Cross in the Police van. It is very rewarding to see residents popping in to chat about their problems enabling our PACT panel to build a picture of how Purewell and Stanpit people are getting on in these troubled times. The encouraging thing is that we are beginning to develop an accord with more and more people who are responding to the call for community involvement. Taking responsibility for the area one lives in is not an onerous task, quite the opposite in fact, what it does is to foster good neighbourliness and respect for other people and for the great place where we live. My logo is 'It's working for the community that gets the community working' and whilst I am not naive to think that we can win all the battles, I honestly think we are making real and lasting progress. We could not have achieved that without a host of friends and helpers all of who have made a significant contribution to making Purewell and Stanpit a better place to live. This week has been full of challenges for all of my team but they should take heart that our initiatives are spreading far and wide. Yesterday we were visited at CBC by a delegation from Weymouth who wanted to find out why Christchurch was being held up as a beacon for community safety initiatives. They were extraordinarily complimentary. So you see we do make a difference and our reputation spreading!
