Stanpit traffic calming

Following the receipt of concerns from a number of road users about the design of the calming system at Stanpit, I have asked Council to look again at this construction in order to make the system more effective and safer. There is little doubt that road speeds have declined since this was installed but experts have advised me that with a bit of tweeking it could be a whole lot better. This will be subject to a committee report shortly and subject to ratification, work will commence in the next month. One of my concerns has been that enforcement of highway signs has not been as enthusiastically pursued as I would have expected and as a result sections of our driving community have tended to ignore the signage and put themselves and others at risk. This regrettable situation will be a great deal easier to deal with once the design changes are made.
