So that's it !!!
No more canvassing, the die is cast and my team has worked magnificently, firstly in finding what the real County issues are for Christchurch Central, via our 'tea bag' survey and then by following up every respondent with a personal call. I think we acted with honesty and integrity and by concentrating on the communities main concerns conducted ourselves with considerable dignity. I am very proud of what my team has achieved and whilst my feet have complained bitterly my pain is compensated by the sheer admiration I have for every single person that helped in this campaign. We have had some funny moments too, like when a whole family of ducks joined us for about forty five minutes as we knocked on doors and waiting patiently on the doorstep apparently listening to everything being said. There has been the odd impossible question like 'what are you going to do about the seagulls' and of course numerous complaints about Parliament and the expenses row.In general we dealt with everything we could and passed on problems that were out of our control.A very small minority were thoroughly unpleasant and we did develop slightly thicker skin as the weeks wore on. At the end I have seen no evidence that changes my view that Christchurch Central has been under represented at Dorchester, the state of our roads and pavements is a clear example of that, nobody has been standing up for Christchurch and it is time for that to change. Get out and vote for it!!
