Transparency in Parliament what about Europe?.

In my personal statement earlier in this blog I made very clear my own anger at the clear misuse of taxpayers money at Parliament. There has been a great deal of chest beating over the last few days most of it, designed in my opinion to divert attention from the key issues of honesty and integrity in all our public servants.Let's not forget that this includes our officials of all colours operating in the huge European Parliament. UKIP can't be to proud of their record in this area so why aren't we seeing an equally strident campaign to make all MEP expenses available for scrutiny? Further and closer to home, should County Councillors also be subject to similar scrutiny. I heard recently that some County Councillors use taxis regularly to travel to and from Dorchester at the taxpayers cost, if this is the case are there other areas, all within the rules you understand, that can be manipulated to the advantage of the incumbents.I think that what I am saying is that if we are to expect the communities that we represent to engage with us in all areas effecting their lives then we must see that transparency in all financial issues is essential to the process of trust in governance where ever it is located.
